Sunday, October 5th, 2008There are claims that Zenit St. Petersburg’s UEFA CUP Trophy was bought. The claim was from Russian mafioso. Dont think about club management nor any related side did some disgraceful thing here. Not even the coach nor the players.
The newspaper ABC said Gennadios Petrov, head of a powerful Russian underworld gang, and one of his cohorts said they used between 20 and 40 million euros to “buy” the semi-final and the final, according to a telephone conversation intercepted by Spanish police.
Since the report came out, European authorities have been working to investigate that. Let’s keep that way. (more…)
